I have been doing research on tuba stands. Before I spend 150+ on a stand I would like to know if anyone has any experience with one, how did you like it, and how functional was it.

Are you referring to playing stand, or stand to place tuba when not being used?

As someone who has owned the DEG stand, and the K & M stand, I can say that the BBC stand is by far the best for what I use it for. The legs have always been the problem on the other stands because they eventually wear out and then malfunction. The BBC stand is successful because of its SIMPLICITY. The construction is very sturdy and makes sense. I am truly a convert when it comes to this stand, and any doubts I had were quickly put to the side after just trying it on the job. I'm sure many Pro's that use this stand would also swear by it. Give it a try!

I also prefer the BBC stand over the K&M. I unadvertised side benefit of the BBC stand is that it sounds like you are cocking a gun when you extend the legs.

Ah, a whole 'nother story! The only one I have had experience with was in HS, the old green naugahyde seat with the 3 curved arms that the sousaphone sat in, made by Wenger if I remember right.
BTW---If you ever go looking for a TUBA stand while playing, I am a huge fan of the BB stand, for the reasons given above and more. 8)
