YFB-822 Main Slide Trigger

Can someone enlighten me as to why this is done? Anyone on the board have it done? Thanks!

I have seen it done on a couple of older model YFB822 horns. It was to solve serious pitch problems -- the open notes didn't line up. This was a problem with earlier model YFB822 tubas. The later ones (I have one) are much better. I only need to do a bit of first valve slide tweaking and a couple of alternate fingerings. For the G three ledger lines below, I give the fourth valve slide a pull (fingering: 2345).
