Miraphone Rose Solo question

I don't have a lot of experience with Miraphone stuff, so I thought I'd throw this out to those of you who do...

I recently had a very pleasant playing experience fooling around with an old Miraphone Rose Solo mouthpiece. Unfortunately, the one I laid my hands on is pretty old and the rim is worse for wear. I wouldn't want to play it long-term without some refinishing work.

I'm interested in just buying a new one, which brings me to my question: have these mouthpieces changed in design over the years, as the Shilke Helleberg II and others have? Or is this a pretty consistent design, so if I purchase a new one it will be pretty much the same as this... thing I have now?

Thanks in advance!

I personally own the currently manufactured Miraphone Rose Orchestra & Solo mouthpieces. The Orchestra has a deeper cup, while the Solo has a more shallow cup. As far as design differences between older ones & the current ones I am unsure of any differences. Two individuals whom I can say are very reliable sources for this question would be Bloke & Roger Lewis. These gentlemen are professionals, and know Miraphone's products very well.
Finally, I use these mouthpieces and like them very much. In addition, I use a Conn Helleberg Model 120S which works well for me. The horns I use are a VMI 2103 BB-Flat, and a Miraphone 187 in BB-Flat. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Bavarian Fanfare

The Rose Solo is my mouthpiece of choice for my Marzan slant-valve CC.

I got my first one around 25 years ago, and perhaps 10 years ago I got one as a back-up, just in case some terrorist sawed mine in half just to see if I would react.

I can discern no significant difference between the two.

Thanks so much - I think that answers my question enough to at least have a new one shipped out to try!

The Joseph Klier JK 2C is very close to the Rose Solo. I may be mistaken but I seem to recall that the older Miraphone mpc's were made by Joseph Klier. The JK''s are lot cheaper than are the Miraphones - I believe I paid ~ $99 for a gold plated one a little while back.

I just saw Mr. Rose a few days ago, and he showed me a new version of the Rose Orchestra that looks like an old Conn mouthpiece. He said it's the same shape and design on the inside, which is important to him. I didn't ask about the Rose Solo, but I assume the same would hold true.
