Hello everyone!

I would like to invite you all to visit my website at http://www.jamesmeadormusic.com" target="_blank for new music featuring the tuba. You can hear sound clips of all these pieces and more, just click on the titles of the pieces to open the sound files.

New items include:

Cascades for low brass ensemble (quintet), meaning 3 tenors, 1 bass trombone and tuba (or you could use another bass trombone or contrabass trombone). This piece was commissioned by and dedicated to Tim and Jessica Buzbee, ideally to be used by an orchestral low brass section. It was premiered by the low brass section of the Sydney Opera in Australia in March 2009. About 8-9 minutes depending on tempos, the piece is moderately difficult. Available on my website.

Meditation from Thais Arrangement of the classic Meditation by Massenet for tuba (or bass trombone) and piano. Very straightforward, about 4 minutes long, available at Warwick Music at http://www.warwickmusic.com" target="_blank, but you can hear sound clips of it on my website. Excellent recital piece exploring the lyrical side of the tuba.

Cavatine Arrangement of a great piece by Camille Saint-Saëns for tuba (or bass trombone) and piano. Also very straightforward, about 4½ minutes long, also available at Warwick Music at http://www.warwickmusic.com" target="_blank, but again you can hear the sound clips on my website. Also a great recital piece, but more technical aside from a beautiful lyrical section in the middle.

Blå Vägen (The Blue Road) for tenor or bass trombone (or tuba) and digital music. This piece was commissioned by and is dedicated to Jessica Buzbee. Originally written for tenor trombone but works well on bass trombone and tuba. At the request of Jessica, it is based on an old Swedish folk song. Somewhat difficult technically, just over 6 minutes long. Available on my website.

I have a number of other ensemble pieces as well, so please check it out! Also, the new Facebook Tuba Commission piece will be up soon!

Best wishes,
James Meador
