I read TubeNet far more than I comment. I even steer people I teach low brass to to head here. I think it's a great headlong plunge into the world of low brass. I've been a member for about 4 years, but I've been reading since 2000.

My perception is that although only a handful of British tuba players post on here, quite a lot more do read TubeNet. That is bore out by responses when I have advertised tubas for sale. A couple have been sold to players not registered on TubeNet.
So tip for sellers - include your email address in advert to allow responses from people without TubeNet registration.

The Advanced Search function makes TubeNet an excellent resource for responses to specific questions or topics (e.g. "Should I use my F or my CC?"). Those responses may sometimes be considered opinion or belief rather than documented fact (isn't nearly everything on the 'net?), but it's still a useful tool. Some of those opinions are contributed by highly respected professionals.

Almost any English language tuba query on Google will have Tubenet links on the first page. I assume that is where a lot of visitors come from.

That's funny, half the time when I want to find something in Tubenet, I give up on "Advanced Search" and use Google, possibly limited to forums.chisham.com. I agree that Tubenet can be an excellent resource, which I think is your point, but not because of its own search functionality.
For example, search Tubenet for "Conn 3" (with quotes) via Google, I get "about" 124 hits, with only a few false leads like "Conn 3/4". "Advanced Search" yields 8506 hits - every post with the "Conn". Maybe I'm just not an Advanced Searcher?

It is sometimes (many times...) tricky to use searches like this Advanced Search, but you have a great secondary plan, the limited Google search.

Of course parents and other non-tubists read here. Don’t most of you read other lists?
I get the digest of a flute list. Normally I own skim the headlines, but once in a while there is stuff worth diving into. I avoid oboe lists as I don’t want to read about ambronze bells on English horns.
One low brass forum also should be avoided, as they edit spelling errors and faulty grammar into postings. The Werden site has good euphonium discussions, but I rarely follow them.

A lot of good info here for the casual observer.
My favorites are the overhaul pics from master
craftsmen such as bloke
(Joe, is the glitter Sousaphone still available?)
and Mr. Oberloh.

your profile in google includes to much other tuba stuff likely. For generic google searches tubenet comes up very high on 'tuba'

My Google display is set for 100 hits per page, and "tuba quartet" comes up before the halfway mark. We're probably getting pretty much the same results.
I know that Google remembers my searches, and I suspect that it rules out the types of sites I never go to (e.g., granite countertops and surgery).
