We did a low-paying gig at 7am this morning for a Chamber of Commerce breakfast, followed by a 10am spot on a local TV station to plug next week's jazz festival.

The sound guy really did a nice job recording our sound check, but then of course they had to turn on the compression for the actual broadcast.
I do enjoy the freedom in a 4-piece band, though.

And if you should miss rhythmic subdivisions from the absent drummer, then just look at Art’s right eyebrow. Maybe a reaction to the helicon being attached to a power chord and only the mouthpiece being insulated. High energy stuff no matter what.

Yes, it's a fun group to play with. I have had the pleasure of working with these guys in various combinations for more than 40 years and still enjoy it. (How many brass quintet and symphony musicians can say that?)
Alex, thank you for ordering the CD. Dave Gannett even sent me an email saying he had sold one, so we can both almost retire. (haha)
We have not issued any recordings of the quartet. Much as I enjoy trio and quartet work, I think the 7-piece band with a good vocalist sells more CDs than this kind of thing would. But maybe some day...

It's enjoyable to play with a 6- or 7-piece band. But it's lots more fun to play when the drums aren't there.
