Wow,

Just got done with another intense 4 day session at the Miraphone Academy with the Sotto Voce Symposium. What an experience to be able to work with these fine musicians in an intense and informative environment! I think anyone who wants to become a serious chamber musician should really consider attending this in the future. The level of improvement in each quartet and each player throughout these 4 days was amazing, and I'm sure that there are many lessons that will carry on for each of us for the next many years in our playing! Thanks again to all the guys at Miraphone for these great opportunities.

Thanks, Andy, for the complimentary words! We in Sotto Voce sure loved our new home for our symposium at Univ. of North Carolina-Greensboro! Absolutely fabulous facilities, and tuba-teacher-host, Dennis AsKew made us all feel extremely comfortable and welcome. Thank you to Andy and all the participants last summer who made this chamber music aspect of the new Miraphone Academy a success.

With the ITEC coming up this May (Tucson 2010), Sotto Voce feels that a summer quartet symposium AFTER the conference and competition doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And, as Sotto Voce has no role to play in the ITEC quartet competition, we feel it makes a great deal of sense to help out those groups interested in some coachings to be able to do so BEFORE the ITEC....long before! So we are currently considering a Martin Luther King Day (Fri., Jan. 15 - Mon, Jan. 18, 2010) Miraphone Academy.

As many of you are beginning to put your quartets together for the semester and considering competing at the ITEC, we would strongly recommend our unique tuba/euphonium quartet camp to bring your quartet to the next level. Of course you'll get a whole lot of mentoring and ideas from us, but more than anything else, this symposium would give serious groups a 4-day "retreat" to a southern climate in the dead of winter to develop your quartet.

If you are interested in this event and think it might be something you'd like to pursue, please give me an email right away, so that we may continue planning. Either reply to me via this board, or to my email: mikeforbesmusic@yahoo.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

I look forward to hearing from any of you interested in this possible MLK Weekend Tuba Quartet Camp to be held at UNCG.

Best wishes to you all, and get those quartets up and running!

Regards,
Mike Forbes
