Just happened across a podcast called "I Love Jazz" it's a video podcast and in episode 2, Red Lehr is playing tuba with Dr. Kittrell and the St. Louis Rivermen (or something like that...)

Contrary to her comments on the video, Jean Kittrell retired from gigging with the band and now Red leads the group. Just saw him at a festival in Olympia WA last weekend - sweetheart of a guy and one of a kind player.

yep. Jean is in poor health, and relinquished all the bands to Red. Sad. Jean is a fantastic person, great teacher (British Lit. specifically) and a fantastic musician/performer.

Red's no slouch in the person or performer catagories, either!
