Had a nice trip to Seattle

Post by Bandmaster »

I just got home from a trip to Seattle to take my Holton 345 (see my avatar) up to Dan Oberloh. He is going to completely restore the Holton to "better than new" condition. I bought the horn off of Ebay last January and have been playing it ever since (God, I love the sound of this horn). Oddly I was the only bidder for this horn, what's a few patches between friends, right? Dan said the horn has potential, so he will work his magic on it, which unfortuately will take almost a year, the way things pile up in his shop. Dan was very nice and chatted with me about tubas and other instruments for a couple of hours (it's no wonder he stays late at night to get work done). He has quite collection of instruments in his store, wow, and his workmanship is fantastic! So this time next year I will be playing on a flawless, silver Holton 345... I can't wait! But now I have to play my back up horn for a year, it just won't sound the same.... oh well...
