Does anybody have just the valve section only from a 20K or 22K that they would be willing to sell? This isn't for my project this is strictly for a friend who is trying to bring his old 20K back to life. THANKS!!

Is the valve section missing altogether? I don't have a complete valve section but all of the internal parts are available from Conn/Selmer. I also have a few used parts.

No it's not completely missing. It is missing 2 valves, a "broken" main tuning slide (so he says), and has leaky tubes. I'm not sure which valves are missing but I will ask him. He wanted to replace the whole cluster, but would you have some parts to help re-build? Any parts would be great. Thanks

Replacing the whole cluster with a new one would cost waaaay more than your friend would need to spend... providing the casings are still intact and in descent shape. The pistons RETAIL for about $250 each for NEW ones. I would be afraid to even guess how much Conn/Selmer would want for a complete valve cluster... if they would sell it that way at all.
The very best thing for you to do rather than to attempt repairs yourself, would be to take the body to a repair shop. It would probably cost you less in the long run. Depending on the condition of the rest of the horn, a 20K is usually worth spending a few bucks to get going.

I just asked him and he said...it needs all 3 valves and all new tuning slides because everything is missing!..does anyone have some valves and slides laying around? He really doesn't want new ones from Conn/selmer as the horn is a naked lady. The parts don't have to be perfect, he is just trying to get the old lady back to playing condition. Thanks

I think you may be thinking about Tubatom's project. He's the one with bent pistons from his 22K valveset. I haven't started my project as I still have my 20J intact. And I plan to keep it this way. Im going to get another 20J (a more beat up one) to have this done. I think the smaller bore would actually work out too. But back to my friend's situation: He doesn't need a whole valve set, he just needs all 3 used pistons, and all the tuning slides because they are all missing! I'm not worried about getting my whole valve section right now. I'm waiting to see how Tom's project turns out before I even think about any conversions. I just need help finding the valves and slides for a friend! Thanks anybody who can help! John

UPDATE: Just need 3 used 20K valves now. The slides are taken care of. So if anybody has some I'd be glad to get them off your hands. Thanks! John
