I just visited a band in Pentwater, Michigan that meets on Thursdays through August. Just show up and play. 8pm at 'The Green in Downtown Pentwater. Have fun!

Dan,

It's a small world. My grandparents had a summer home in Pentwater about a block from Lake Michigan. I used to listen to the band on Thursdays (even before I was old enough to be in band). I never had an opportunity to sit in with them. They used to fit into a tiny gazebo. Thanks for posting as that brought back fond memories.

If you're ever in the Mt. Pleasant area, let me know. I can offer you a couch, as well as introduce you to a bunch of nice tuba players.

Hey, guy! I grew up in Michigan (Chelsea, near Ann Arbor), myself. The only problem with this site is, well, to put it bluntly, it's full of tuba players...

Welcome to TubeNet! Obviously, I don't live anywhere near SW Michigan. Or Michigan, at all, actually. I'm sure you'll meet some fellow enthusiasts, though.

Welcome to TubeNet and back to playing. I'm in the area, depending (as said before) on how large you draw the circle.

What horn did you get?

Details! :P

Hey Guys....seems i have left out one minor detail in my posting and one of you caught it so i shall give the skinny on it.....I purchased an Amati ABB 323-0 3/4 4 valve tuba and am currently using a Conn Helleberg 120S mouthpiece on it...I had a Miraphone TU-21 mouthpiece that came with the horn but i wasnt getting the results that i wanted....so i did some research and went back too the Conn mouthpiece as that was the brand of mouthpiece i used in jr high and my freshmen year in High school....I also am hoping too be able too use my new horn in the Concert Band at kalamazoo Valley Community College..(hopefully) oh and also have a Miraphone gig bag as well.....like i said i purchased the horn about a month or so ago from WWBW...which is a very excellent store in my honest opinion and very affordable too

Welcome to TubeNet, Ryan! Glad to hear you'll be playing in the KVCC band -- they're a good group. Hope to hear you in concert with them this fall. :D

You should fit right in at KVCC -- I'm sure they'll be glad to have you there! Chris Garrett's a good conductor (and a long-time friend, as is Mike Shannon -- good to know you're studying with him).

Thanks for the kind words on the KCB Bronson Park concert -- glad you enjoyed it! We do have a good time. :D

Looking forward to hearing you play! :tuba: :tuba: :tuba:
