I'm going to test play a few of the piston Gronitz f tubas(PF-125L) and I was wondering what the opinion on these horns are. I haven't seen a lot of them outside of shops and show room floors so I thought this would be the place to ask.
Thanks
Doug

Man my 125 is awesome. If I never played another horn, this would be it. it has teh sound, color and warmth I have been looking for my whole life. With this tuba, truly, I found my voice.

My 125 is amazing. In my opinion, it is by far the best piston F tuba available. I have an older model that has the 2 whole step 5th valve, it also can be made to be a tritone set up. It has a beautiful sound, phenomenal playability but there are some suspect tuning aspects but are easily remedied by slide pulls or alternate fingerings. I would recommend this tuba to anyone.

I started on an older Alex F. I have since owned a Yamaha 822 and a B&S pre-PT Symphonie model F. I now happily use the Gronitz PF125. It very nicely blends the response/evenness/playability of the Yamaha with the classic F sound of the B&S. I use it for orchestral playing, chamber music, solos and strolling. It has a couple unusual but very manageable pitch issues. I'm very, very satisfied with it.
