I would like to have a copy of the tuba part of this great march for my own educational, not-for-profit purposes. If any of you have one, please PM or email it to me.
Thanks,
Eric

I have a copy of K. L. King's "Cyrus the Great, Persian March" sitting on my computer desk right now. It is an original from our Shrine band.
It is marked "Basses" and much of it is written in octaves to accomadate BBb and Eb tubas as was customary when published.
I can scan it and send it in an email IF IT IS LEGAL to do so. What does the TNFJ say? I do not have the copyright date handy right now.

IF that edition is dated with a 1921 copyright only, it is fair use no matter what.

Good info, another anecdote has it that "Cyrus" was a fellow band member: http://karlking.us/tunes.htmgoodgigs wrote:Eric, I sent you an email . I should have sent you a snail mail a week ago as it would be there by now.
If I could make a computer do everything I wanted, the world would be a changed place.
I happen to love this march and under one of my many conductors, were took it as follows;
"Full speed ahead" for the intro and first repeat strain. Then half time for the melody.
It seems Cyrus was the world's largest performing elephant at the time. He didn't move fast.
We started the trio the same way and did the same thing. It was a long blow for the back row but
it felt great and they loved us.
Responded to your email as well.
Serendipity: this thread is a month old, and now I got two hits in one day. I had pretty much given up. Never underestimate the TNFnJ...
Thanks guys,
Eric
