Holy price difference Batman

Post by Tubadork »

Hey,
The new WWBW catalog had on it's cover a Petruschka for $9,099 and inside (pg57) for $7,999. Big difference (both both very reasonable). I checked the website:
http://www.wwbw.com/Miraphone-1281-5-Va ... 44176.wwbw" target="_blank
and it looks like the $9k is for silver and the $7,999 is for lacquer. Wow, a $1,000 for silver plating. But like I said for a new F, both are good prices considering the Kodiak is almost $12k and the 822 is $10k.
Just a heads up,
Bill

I spoke with Roger Lewis today about this horn. He mentioned in Germany it is about $1000 to silver plate a horn these days.

Yeah,
I've had to clean and polish a couple of silver horns, can't say I'm a fan of that and it is a lot more labor intensive to produce, but in looking at say a lacquer 822 vs. a silver the difference in price is only about $400.

Just so everyone is on the same page, our cost between lacquer and silver is a little over $1,000 USD. In Germany the environmental standards are a lot higher than here or in Japan when handling silver cyanide. Believe me, it's worth the cost to have a good job done on the plating.

Just my $0.02.
