how do you amplify your sousaphone?

the default option for me, which works fine for now, is to play into a random house mic (usually a shure sm57) on a stand. i'd like to be more mobile, though. anyone have any experience with various wireless setups?

also, how deep into the bell do you put your mic? i've seen some dangling all the way down, some mics taped onto the bell, various contraptions constructed to suspend the mic in the centre of the bell, etc. discuss?

I've seen some people using the small instrument mics, that wire to a wireless box or preamp on your belt/pocket.

I know bloke uses a full size mic on a custom holder he made.

depends on what sound you want. to me, mic in the bell or down the pipe is more of an electric sound, more like a synth even. My ideal is a foot or so off the edge of the bell, NEVER with a 58-type mic.
