Proper horn?

So, I have been in talks today, and will be getting a cimbasso for my school's "Italian concert" (more on the horn to come later as it becomes more existant)
I decided to start reading through the parts, so I wouldn't be completely in the dark when we started up (a move that I perhaps should have done before agreeing to getting the horn, but that's a totally different story)
We will be playing
Verdi: Overture to "La Forza del destino"
Verdi: "Ernani, Ernani, involami"
Verdi: Processional, Triumphal March and Ballet from "Aida"
Mascagni: Excerpts from "Cavalleria Rusticana"
I looked up the "Forza del Destino" excerpt on my Gordon Cherry excerpt cd, and was surprised to see that the part was listed as "tuba". Is that something specific to the arrangement/edition on the cd, or is it meant to be played on a tuba? I remember hearing (and reading on here) that Verdi parts are best done on cimbasso.
I tried finding the other parts on the CD, but was not able to. Does anyone know if the other parts are on the CD, but with a different name (ie "Force of Destiny" as opposed to "la Forza del destino"?). I couldn't really find the parts of Aida in that excerpt either.
Finally, I looked up the Mascagni on Wikipedia and IMSLP, and found that it calls for "bass tuba". Being that the composer is Italian, should I go for the cimbasso (at that point, just for the sake of saving my back), a bass tuba, or a contra? I'm sorta just trying to find out what will be the most authentic sound, and most easily playable (and show up with the right axe on the first day)
Thank you
