If you are talking about just wanting a quick feedback recording ( "am I going the right direction" sort of thing ), then I'm getting ridiculously acceptable results using my laptop w/ built-in mic and Audacity. I imagine if I used some of my good mics and good speakers it would be quite amazing! But for not needing to worry about rig set-up, just using a laptop is very attractive.

Should you get the H-2 and you want to record a lot of stuff in hi-fi, you also might want to get a bigger SD card. I picked up a 2 Gb (more than enough for me) card at Best Buy for around $14.

I have a newer mac and I did some stuff with imovie. Audio and video, just started but it shows me some physical stuff I was unaware of and the audio is fine for practice.
