Hello All,

Whilst drinking my rare coffee three days ago--- I spilled it all over a pile of tuba music and goofy tuba print outs. Although some of my music is rather "antique" looking now, it was not lost. HOWEVER, my copy of the infamous Low Brass Players' Creed was destroyed.

I do know that this was NOT written by Charlie Vernon and that it is NOT tasteful, but I don't care. I got a hoot out of this thing and want another copy!

A search of the net yields no results, as the original was taken down off of the wisco website.

The infamous Low Brass Creed has been attributed to a very drunk Charlie Vernon in his youth. It is copyrighted and is available through the Atlanta Brass Society. Please do not post the creed!

I don't think it was Charlie either. I believe it may have been written by a trombonist here in Atlanta (a long time ago).

I know nothing about The Low Brass Players Creed

Charlie WAS a trombonist in Atlanta a long time ago. It may have been before your time, but remember time is relative.

Al, I don't think that's the only reason why eutubabone thought that. It has been said that harry maddox actually typed the letter, as charlie vernon shouted it while drunk. The original actually says "by harry maddox" in the top right hand corner. Harry Maddox and Charlie sat in the same section in Atlanta together. Hence the, "trombonist in atlanta" comment.

I have been given another copy of the original, thanks! Way better than the transcribed text on that website.

There was a third member of that section as well. I've never met Charlie, but I've sure had a lot of fun out of the other two and their "creed". They absolutely deny any involvement whatsoever. Michael's position seems to be, I didn't write it , but if I am going to be accused of it I may as well make some money off it." Therefore it is copyrighted, and you can buy a copy on his website. I asked Harry to autograph my copy once in the middle of a rehearsal and just to see what he would do. I got a real kick out of that one. However, many of the statements contained within are just as true now as they were then.

The Brass Players Creed is copyrighted and owned by Michael Moore ( Tubaist with the Atlanta Symphony ). There were some inquiries about it on the tubaeuph list a few years back and Mr. Moore stated that he would sell copies suitable for framing. He also stated that he has, and will, protect his copyright. The only authorized copies are available from him. Link

I just went to the website mentioned previously, to read the 'Tuba Credo.' I can only assume that it the one being referenced. Not being easily offended mind you, I found it to be vulgar and totally without merit. It should only be in one's private collection of filth (and mine is quite extensive).

All that having been said; the Tuba Credo is quite accurate (to most of us m*****f*****s).
