But Harv, is there some gender fighting going on in your home?
I can only tell from the photo, but it looks like you were forced preparing a sousaphone for doing the laundry. But then it looks like you fought back by putting some iron balls on the table.

Which were the patterns for older US brassmakers and their use of dye in their lacquer?
I have 3 trombones from King and Conn, all with gold brass bells. They do not look like their lacquer was dyed. However I remember buying a spray can of King lacquer maybe 30 years ago for some touch up work on a yellow brass King trombone. As I remember it that lacquer was dyed. Still yellow, but more intense than polished raw brass.
I have a Bach trombone, where the lacquer appears to be clear, as the colour has a slight green tint to the yellow, which I guess is the colour of the brass alloy.
On my York Master BBb (which isn’t really American) the lacquer appears to be slightly more reddish than the brass itself.
