My girlfriend is scheduled to play flute at her Great Aunt's funeral this saturday (9/5/09) and the organist who was supposed to accompany her resigned effective immediately (due to being confronted about inappropriate conduct with a "faith community member").
So, Amazing Grace was requested by the Great Aunt's daugher. In order to help out my girlfriend I offered to cover Amazing Grace on tuba which was orinigally going to be played on organ. I was hoping a member of the TNFJ would be able to help me out and send me a copy of (preferably) an unaccompanied version of AG that I could use. I would look for a copy to buy, put I am in quite a pinch for the music and need it ASAP. I know I could use a hymnal also, but was hoping I could have something I could print and play. If you can help me out I would be ever so grateful!!!! Please PM if you can and I will supply my email address. Thanks!

I don't mean to be unhelpful, but you can't just play it by ear, writing it down if you need to? Even I can play that tune by ear (and have done so). Pick up the tuba RIGHT NOW and try it--I bet you could have the basics written down in less time than it would take to deal with email and printers.Thomas Maurice Booth wrote:I was hoping a member of the TNFJ would be able to help me out and send me a copy of (preferably) an unaccompanied version of AG that I could use.

I can play it by ear, but I would like to have a copy of it just for safety. If necessary I will transcribe it myself, I was just hoping that someone could help me out in a pinch. Thanks for the idea though!

I can do one better. I have sequenced an really lush orchestral accompaniment and written out a solo/obligatto/key change solo. PM me your email and I will get that to you when I get home after school, dance class for my daughter, church, and quintet rehearsal.

I made an arrangement for band for the funeral of a band friend 11 years ago. I still have the Finale files. Do you want it in one key or two keys? I can transpose the lead part to whatever key(-s) you might want. I could make a flute part to play two or three octaves above the tuba. You will get the music in .pdf format.

18 years ago I subbed for the editor of the monthly newspaper for a community house. The typesetter used to make things fit by means of a knife. I said: Tell me the number of lines wanted and I will make the text fit.the elephant wrote:imperialbari wrote:Do you want it in one key or two keys? I can make it longer if you like the style, I can change it round and I want to be a paperback writer…

PS: The OP plays CC as well as F. I suggested F to stay within the range of a male vocalist.
Edit: Considering the OP I made a duet for bass tuba with optional flute, which shall stay in the low octave, as it is just a colouring on the tuba line, but will a beautiful one.

Look up Jari Villanueva on Google. He's retired USAF Band arranger/trumpeter and has an enormous library of brass music that he has published himself. Iknow for a fact that he has arrangment of Amazing Grace.

If no errors are found this will be the one played at the funeral. Sempre loco means that the flute shall stay in the written octave.
