I hate to throw out the factory case to my 1966 Mirafone 186. It's tattered, stripped of material in places, and the wood is scraped thin. Has anyone had any success in recovering a case? I found some fake leather material at Wal-Mart that looks similar and is reasonable. Is there a source for the original material used? I thought I would also add roller wheels or casters as well! Who has had success recovering and saving their cases? Any tips? Thanks

I recover cases. I use the same 'fake leather' that you found. I find it works best with contact cement. Don't try to wrap the material around awkward corners and curves. Just cut it neatly and trim around it. You can cut trimming out of the same material you have or you can find ready made trim in fabric stores. Good luck.

The last one I did is probably still alive. I used epoxy impregnated cotton duck cloth, because the wood was so bad. It was barely good enough to be a form for the cloth. 2 part epoxy resin and tent cloth instead of fiberglass cloth. It was just like building a small boat. What a mess though.
