From what I see online, the 1291 conical bore comes in a greater size range than the 291. The 1291's is anywhere from .772"-.835", whereas the 291 is from .803"-.832".
Obviously, the 1291 has piston valves and the 291 has rotary valves. If you look closely, you'll see that on the 1291 the 5th valve is about even with the 1st valve, while on the 291 the 5th valve is much higher up on the horn (it is above the 1st valve).

As for the difference between the 1291 and the 1292, there is almost none. The leadpipes are built differently. The leadpipe on the 1292 narrows faster than the leadpipe of the 1291, which is supposed to help with accuracy and response.

I can't be of any help for comparing the playing of the 1291 and the 291. I played both models a long time ago, but I can't remember how the 291 compares to the 1291. That said, I own a 1291 CC and I absolutely love it. The response is great, the horn as an INSANE Low G and Low E. The high register is great, a few tuning problems, but nothing absolutely terrible. The 1292 plays really similarly to the 1291. Personally, I thought the 1292 had a bigger sound, but worse response.

Hope this helps.
