Some of you might remember my posts about Honk! Fests in Seattle and Boston in the past - great fun for alternative low brass players. Might be too "radical/political" for some on TubeNet  , but each band involved decides if they are more "Action" or "Entertainment" (or a blend of both.) The Honk! website has been updated and there is a new 10 minute video that explains some of it pretty well.

Some of the organizers have put together a PDF magazine called "Harmonic Dissidents" that is available here:

http://www.harmonicdissidents.org/pdfs/harmdiss1.pdf

this is from the editors:
Harmonic Dissidents is out. Some of us from the Honk!Fest street band community have pooled our efforts to produce this interactive magazine + blogsite. We hope you can use it to promote music as a force for positive political change. Harmonic Dissidents #1 contains:

· Inside looks at Obama’s plan to stimulate community music,
· Ready-to-play arrangements of some good tunes,
· Reports from bands with great ideas on performance opportunities,
· Perspectives on community music making,
· A profile of community music advocate Charlie Keil, and
· Plans for Honk!Fest 4 in Somerville, MA, Oct 9-11.

You can download the whole magazine as an easy-to-read pdf at harmonicdissidents.org. Of course you will find more links there to other stories and websites but you will also find links to our wikidot weblog.
On http://harmonicdissidents.wikidot.com/ you can contribute comments, search our archives for more information about street bands and propose new subjects pertinent to promoting street music and a more open society.
We hope you will be an active participant in this project. Share your thoughts, report on your band, or contribute an article, arrangement, video or graphic. Spread the word on Honk!Fest and Harmonic Dissidents.
