I got mine today and put them on my kalison k2001. These things are AMAZING!!!! My valves are bouncy but not in a bad way. They are super quiet. The density he used is exactly right. The allignment fixed Ny low e on ride of the. Valkery that never popped the way I wanted it to until today after installing these. I got my horn 5 years used so I don't believe it ever had the right valve allignment. Why a difference. Thanks bloke for all of the research and development you do that us mortals just don't have the tine or maybe will power to do. I 1,000,000% recommend these felts to anyone who has not already tossed the $180 at PVAK. $20 is a pretty sick price!!!! If I knew how these worked so well and saw them for $80 on woodwind Brasswind or something with $20 shipping, I would still be just as gleeful about tossing the cash in the mail. They work that well!!!! Thanks bloke. You rock!!!!!

All this may be heartfelt and not synthetic, yet it is over the hill. That kind of marketing doesn’t serve the matter promoted. It rather reminds of the marketing styles for money machines.

I think you mean to say, "over the top" and not "over the hill". The original poster lives in Las Vegas where such marketing is common.

What is certain is that he really appreciated Bloke's felts and it was nice of him to say so.

I will admit in Europe, we are not accustomed to such "blingy" advertisements.

Some tubists are able to make measurements of sufficient accuracy. I don’t count myself among these, even if I have a caliper with digital output in metric or Imperial units. The weakness of your marketing is about tubists not knowing, which models you already have measured. In my case you could come up with measurements for 6 out of 6 asked partially because you had a certain model coming through your workshop for other reasons. Not bad, but then maybe I asked only the likely stuff. There is very little chance you have the measurements for a 139 years old tuba, but maybe you would have it for one from 39 years ago.

Do you have a place where you could put a list of the models you have measured? I am sure you have a database either on paper or on a disk.

Bloke -- did you ever make a post w/pictures about exactly what to measure? I might get a chance to measure my Marzan this weekend, want to be sure I get the right measurements for you.

Finally a chance to get out of grumpiness and tell some good news. If your York Master BBb is the front action model with the 0.750" bore, then bloke has the measurements ready. I know because I have gotten my order confirmed. I won’t get my several sets of felts until another, larger, part of my combined order has been attended to. Old TubeNetters may remember, that bloke has a York Master himself which is in a box pitched about halfway between its original pitch and the intended pitch of CC. The way bloke speaks of his Thor makes me doubt that the YM-project will be finished anytime soon.

PS: I would wonder if your YM wasn’t the large bore one. They basically may be seen in four permutations on the same frame of valves and branches:

Bell-up or bell-front

The 4th valve tubing sitting in a huge 0-loop on the back with a slide at the bottom (?) or the 4th valve tubing wrapped inside the frame with a slide next to the 1st valve tubing.

Mine is bell-front which in this model gives the best intonation. The 4th valve tubing is inside the frame, which makes it impossible to pull slide without reaching over the top bow.

There are small bore YM BBb’s also, but I never saw them documented having more than 3 valves.

yeah...Just GUESSING, I'd guess 1/8" thick all around... BUT I DO HAVE A YM VALVESET HERE, SO I CAN MEASURE TO BE SURE...

Well, let me know when you have them ready, I have money ready to spend. My York-Master was a bell front until I found an upright bell. But my valves have a thick cork washer and a thick felt washer under each valve cap. But I also need new felts under the finger buttons, they are really old and show lots of signs of heavy wear and compression. So I am worried about the present valve alignment both in the up AND down position.


My York-Master

Aside from yours being in better shape than mine, they are the same version. I was very angry when mine arrived in a very bad shape, which had not been mentioned at all by a certain US retailer.

But oddly enough mine plays very well.

My original post was not meant as an over the top promotional piece for Bloke. It was a review based on my initial reaction to the holy crap drastic difference in how my horn plays now versus what it was like for the last 5 years. If I came across as over the top to some people... I don't know what to say to you... I personally get very excited when something makes my life way easier like this.

I was at bloke's yesterday and he fitted me with felts for the YFB-822. They are great, so if you have an 822 f-tuba he has the felts. I also bought a blokepiece which I already have high regards for, but that is for another post.
