HI I'm new to this forum and you all have probaly been asked this question a thousand times.. My 3J silver does not have laquer my teacher from the 80's said they have a better tone .. I'm thinking of going with a little larger horn that is laquered.. Would it sound any better if I'd remove the laquer?? Thanks................Rank amiteur.........bigbob

If you are thinking about buying that bigger, lacquered, horn, then only buy it, if you like it as is. Assuming it will sound right after having the lacquer stripped is a badly founded guess.

I have removed lacquer from the bells of a couple of trombones, and they became more alive. But then I think my euphonium sounds warmer because it is lacquered. I am not going to change that. Again: buy any instrument for its current values, including sound, if you are not a very experienced brass player.

My signature is about my lowest conical brasses. Schlepporello’s signature is a disguised ad for the way he makes money. He delivers small parcels within his Texan home-turf.

The instruments Klaus has listed is the section of his post called his signature. Whenever he makes a post, that list will be at the bottom.
And sadly, the Tubenet signature is limited to 10 instruments, so Klaus is cut off when he's only getting started.
