F piece with helleberg rim

So it seems to me that most F tuba mouthpieces have a rounded "cushion" rim. This rim drives me nuts and I want to know what F pieces have the FLAT AND SHARP helleberg rim.

Thanks :tuba:

Joe (bloke) has his a brand of his own mouthpieces "blokepieces." His Blokepiece #1 has a semi-flat rim that might feel similar to a helleberg style rim. You might could try that.

You might want to try out a Cooley Helleberg. It's a small helleberg with a flat, sharp rim. Originally intended for the Nirschl York, I've found it works quite well as a F tuba piece. I've been using one for 6 or 7 years now (I guess that makes me biased?), and have no intention of switching, though I must admit to being intrigued by the blokepiece.

By some accounts the Conn 7B is suited to bass tuba, and it does have a pretty flat rim.

Everyone seems to agree that the Laskey/Schilke HII rim is flat, but it's like "funnel shaped" - a truly funnel shaped cup, or truly flat rim, more or less can't be found, so we're always talking about some degree of compromise. See Paul Sidey's site for more on this (http://www.angus1.com/ssh/.) I don't see that he offers what I would call a bass tuba version, but there's an "SSH II" with dimensional parameters that make it a hair smaller, and I don't think you'll find a flatter rim.

My Flat Narrow (4N) rim shape is totally flat, just like an original Conn Helleberg. I make it in 4 sizes:
1.26" (7B size but flat like the regular Conn Helleberg)
1.28"
1.30" (original Conn Helleberg size and shape)
1.32"

I would not call the Schilke Helleberg II rim "flat." It has a very round outside edge. I now offer a copy of that rim.

I have three mpc's for sale with altered rims (exactly like the Conn Helleberg), if you were interested...

Paul Sidey sells a pair of bowl shaped solo mouthpieces with the same rim as his stainless steel hellebergs.
