Hi Board,

I'm working on a project for ITEA and need your assistance. Here is the question:

Who would you consider to be "legends" in the Tuba Euphonium world? Living, deceased, makes no difference. You may list as many people as you'd like.

I will look forward to your replies.

Thanks,
Dave

Bill Bell
Connie Weldon
Gene Pokorny
Warren Deck
Tony Kniffen
Dave Fedderly

If you are talking about the TE world, and not necessarily TE players, then you HAVE to include Gerhard Meinl.

Does this list need to be exclusively players/teachers, or can people of importance to the development of the horns and the music for the horns also be included?

People like Alec Wilder? Gerhard Meinl? John Stevens and Neil Corwell (both fabulous players in their own rights, as well as composers for tuba/euph)?

Thanks for the submissions so far.

You can put anyone who you feel is central to the development of the evolution of the craft. If you feel like an instrument maker or designer should be on the list, put them on.

Mike, good list. Take me off... next thing you know, you'll be putting me up for a Nobel Prize. (NOT an invitation to highjack this thread!)

Best,
DZ

DZ....if you don't put yourself on this list I'm going to call Joey and have him call in a favor! I can give a bunch of reasons to include yourself....you may not like talking about you, but you have to do it! :-)

Here here! You don't have to talk about yourself and I'm sure that all of us here would not think that you started this thread in anyway to toot your own horn. As stated though, you have been just as important to the tuba/euph world as most others listed so please let US talk about your contributions. I know that I personally have been helped by your contributions.

Thank you David Zerkel and a thank you to all that have come before and will continue long after we are all gone.

If you have a category for 'colorful' characters... you might consider Bloke.
