Hello all,
I' m looking for an Original SSH mpc with the small European shank...

Quotation... 'Having a diameter of .490" at small end of shank, this size is offered by Dennis Wick in the sizes 1 through 5. Just make sure you order the one without the "L" in the model number...'

Does someone have or know such a mpc? I need it for my old Boosey BBb Tuba, because the SSH is >>my<< mpc on my other tubas .
Regrettably Mr. Sidey doesn't answer to my e- mail-question.

Sounds like a custom job -- the Sidey mpcs are manufactured with either the .520" (American) or .535" (European) small end shank size, so your best bet would probably be to buy one with the .520" shank and have it turned down (on a lathe) to .490" (which will most likely shorten it a bit as well, but a small added pull of the main slide should take care of that).

thank you for your advise. I think, it will be a risk, to find a good lath operator, who doesn't damage the mouthpiece...

Two options:

Find the maker of the Sidey mouthpieces and ask him to make a turned down version. When done in the original production process there will be no damage to the mouthpiece. The maker is Dave Houser. Expect him to charge you a fee for reprogramming the lathe.

Alternatively let a good local repairman change the receiver of your tuba, so that it will take standard mouthpieces.
