Time for another round of "pictures of my toys". Bloke still has my Besson EEb, but
this lineup has a certain amount of interest.

This pic has been 'around the block' a few times but the only things that have changed is I've added a red,white & blue 36K souzie and no longer have the Kaiser on my left.



Oh yeah.... I no longer have that ugly sectional couch, either!

That 36J looks remarkably similar to a York Master (ie general proportions, Marzan-style tilted valves, detachable bell, etc). The King looks TINY by comparison. Have you played the 36J in a rehearsal yet? Feedback?

As the tags say...from left to right: Conn 36J (built 1933?), King 2341 (built 2000?), Yamaha 621 (built 1997?), and "Symphony" helicon (built 1895-ish?, modified ??)

All are BBb except the Eb peashooter helicon.

Missing in action (bloke has it) is the highly modified Besson 3+1 compensating EEb.

I think Klaus got it right - the 36J looks like a York Master CC (proportionally), until you realize it's a BBb and then think about what that means in terms of absolute size. I'm still working on finding a playing position that puts all 4 fingers over the valve buttons - I suspect there's a "pinky extender" in its future (similar to the one Rick Denney has on his York Master). I'm still working out the intonation quirks (seems to match the usual generalizations about these BIG Conns).

It will stay in my basement (always at the ready for a quick hour-long workout) until I find a compelling reason to play it in public, and have a way to transport it. It came with two cases that are *heavy* enough to require a bearer and a pick-up truck to transport.

I wonder if Cronkhite makes a bag for it...perhaps something in Guernsey suede?

And, I suppose I really should acquire a recording bell for it - just the thing for an outdoor 4th of July event, or perhaps an onstage "Chicago" gig.

Cross-media confusion (plus brain-fart). I was referring to a comment someone made in the Facebook thread (and erroneously remembered it as something from Klaus).

The point was: someone thought the picture looked like a Marzan CC. I agree that it looks like a Marzan CC - until you figure out the scale (pun intended).

i have never seen one of those. Looks very cool! would love to hear/play one of those.
