Just received the programme for one of the orchestra's I play with - anyone let me know which of the pieces has a tuba part and whether any of them are fun/challenging - cheersw

Looks like you'll play concerts 1 and 3.

Is the Gerswhin concerto the F minor one?
If so, that's not too bad to play.

It depends on the orchestra, if they are light on the double basses, or missing a 2nd bassoon, or contrabassoon or 3rd trombone they might be glad that you're there.
Play selectively in the loud passgages and avoid the pizzicato bits, and when the orchestration gets thin, there is some fun to be had in all those pieces.
I know that it goes against all authentic performance practice, but see what they want.
