Any thoughts on these two harnesses? I would like the option to stand up for some BQ playing. I play a MW 2141, so the MW Harness seems logical, but its quite pricey. Just looking at some pics the Neotech seems to be a good set-up. Anyone use either of these? Comments on comfort? Was Breathing restricted?

I've not used the Neotech harness but I have LOTS of experience with the Meinl harness. The Meinl is a very substantial harness that will hold any tuba that has harness loops. I think it's worth the price.

I use a neotech harness with a MW 2145, and it's quite comfortable and doesn't affect my breathing. I just haven't been able to size it small enough, and will have to cut some of the straps down to make it fit me perfectly; as it is, the horn sits a little low. I haven't tried the MW harness but the neotech one has proved to be effective at a reasonable price.

I use a Neotech, Bari Sax double shoulder strap on my 983 works great standing or sitting. Clipped to an inside brace for better adjustment length and control. Price was right at about $35.00, three years ago. No tubing, good fit, and packs easily.

I have a Neotech XL tuba harness,
my 5/4 Rudy doesn't have any strap loops or clip rings,
so with the included additional tricks, it works for my horn.
It took a little while to adjust it for the right comfortable playing height.
Very happy with mine.

I bought one for my YFB-621 and it is also too large. I got the extra large, because of my body size. I'm going to keep it, since I'm sure it will work with my two large CC tubas, but it is definitely too big for the Yamaha.

Search the archives for back in the summer. I posted about just this topic and there was much feedback. As for me, the NeoTech was worse than useless on my 186 and the MW was magnificent, well worth any difference in cost. The difference in quality and usefulness is quite apparent.

I find the MW harness so effective that I am going to be moving back to using PT-20 (with special added hooks) for standing gigs. The weight is no problem with this excellent harness.
