This may be a really dumb question and I don't claim to know anything about instrument repair but is there any way to re-lacquer part of an instrument without completely stripping and re-lacquering? The part is on the bell and leadpipe from where the pipe was moved by a previous owner.

Although it's possible to buff and refinish small areas... the chances of the new lacquer matching the old is pretty slim. Lacquer is available in spray cans from Nikolas.
