So, I recently recieved a PT-9 mouthpiece and I know nothing about it. The shank is too big for my horn and I play a Sam Gnagey CC...it's too big for my sousa as well. My friend with a 186 can kinda/sorta make it "fit" in his horn.

I'm assuming that since the shank is huge, it's probably a Euro shank. It says "Made in West Germany" and the letter "A" underneath that, on the shank...that's all I know about it and I can't find any info on the web...so I'm turning to you guys/gals and your vast amount of knowledge

Yes. Euro shank. Although I am not entirely sure what it is called in the PT line. It will not fit the newer 186's. However mid 80's CC 186's and some older 186's have the Euro shank fitting with an American "adapter" at the end. It is easily removed and then the horns will take this mouthpiece. The new 186's have a different leadpipe and do not have this shank adapter.

It will fit my 186 if I remove the American fitting, but not the horn belonging to the certain person you speak of (hehehehe).

Yeah, I think it just says "Perantucci 9" so it's not a "PT" model...don't have it with me at the moment but yeah...

I just need a little info on the specs and what it was designed "to do". I have a PT-83 and love it so there may be a chance that I'll end up selling this one but I would like to know what I'm selling if that is the case.

The PT-9 mouthpiece is, as I recall, the old number for the PT-64.

The A on the shank of old Perantucci mouthpieces is for Alexander NOT American.

I had one marked exactly the same way.

Yes, I used to own a 9, but lost it somewhere. I still own a 1 and a 2 in the old numbering system.
