just had this conversation with a famous tube netter, my thought was to use a piece of leather or calfskin and either thread it with leather shoe lace or attach velcro to it..it was pointed out to me that it must be a non reactive material up against the horn to avoid a potentially larger problem than your skin and sweat might produce- I m giving it a try - will post follow up- jamsav- who also owns a ST Pete

A lot of trombone players who have these get them from here:

Their multi layer design keeps moisture from being trapped against the surface of the instrument.
I believe they can make custom guards to wrap around tuba branches if you contact them.

Contact Leather Specialties at:

and they should be able to custom make the appropriate items you need for your horn. You may need to get some specific measurements to them, but I can guarantee a quality product from them.
All the best.

went to work on a bow guard last night- took twenty minutes, start to finish. Took sheep skin chamois clothe, glued felt to the back , measured, cut to fit ,wrapped bow , attached with pre adhesived velcro and it seems like it will get the job done- $12 , twenty minutes, and enough material left over to make a hand guard if I desire....jamsav
