Okay so I am really close mouthpiece wise to what I want for my big CC. However, I am looking for a slight change and want to ask the mouthpiece gurus what I am looking for.

What I play now is a SSH classic. This has been the first mouthpiece with my big CC that has made the horn play well and easily in ALL registers. I love the flat rim and it feels great to me. However, I lost a lot of color in my sound because of this mouthpiece. What I am looking for in a mouthpiece is the ease in playing in all registers (esp. the LOW register) that my SSH has yet with more color in the sound. Before people start suggesting mouthpieces here are a few that have NOT worked for me.

LOUD LM-7: Wasn't wide enough for me. Also the heavyweight style was not to my liking.

Laskey 30H: This had the color I wanted yet it didn't have that great playing wise in the low register for me. I also wished it was a hair wider.

Laskey 30G: Same as the 30H. Nice color, hard to play low register.

PT-88: A little too wide. Not enough color in the sound. Wasn't a flat enough rim.

So with all of this what would you all suggest for me? Also as a quick note the mouthpiece MUST come in at least a euro shank or bigger. American shanks will not fit my horn.

How about a PT48? Big, flat rim, more bowl than a Helleberg,....

I don't have mine here, but I think the rim itself is just a tiny bit narrower than my Bach 18.

What you need is a mouthpiece with a smaller throat to allow a little more blowback from the mouthpiece to get the low register to respond better. The best mouthpiece for this that I have found is the Blokepiece, but this is not available in a Euro shank. The smallest throat is in the 69C4 Schilke mouthpiece, but this is not available, to my knowledge, in a Euro shank. Look for the smallest throat, in brass, with the rim that you like, with a Euro shank and it should help. That's my best guess.

I noticed this when I played one but the shank didn't fit my horn very well. I also wanted it to be a little deeper. The only other mouthpiece that played like that in the low register was the LOUD LM-7. Both of these have the "reverse taper" in the throat. Yet both of these mouthpieces had something that I didn't like with my CC (blokepiece wasn't deep enough for me plus wrong shank, LM-7 wasn't wide enough) Does anyone make a larger mouthpiece with the reverse taper? Or, (maybe a question for the Bloke) can this be added to a production mouthpiece?

I believe some or all G&W mouthpieces have this reverse taper feature.

I have solved this problem with a custom mouthpiece from Houser! It will pretty much be the SSH classic with the LM-7 throat (reverse taper). I should get it sometime near the end of next week and will let you all know how it is.

You can get the 33.2 mm rim with the LM-7. Or maybe you can get a GW Diablo or something of that nature...GW makes some great mouthpieces.
