Anyone got pics of these 2 tuba stands?

Ok, so I've been sitting with the YamaYork 6/4 tuba on my lap between 9-11 hours a day for the last 12 days and I can't feel my left knee. Of course, that's only when the pain overwhelms the nerves. The rest of the time it just hurts like hell! So, I'm going to try a tuba stand. I've narrowed it down to the K&M or the BBC stands and was wondering if anyone here had pictures of both to compare. If you do, please post them on this thread or send them to me via email. I've searched the earlier threads for opinions and these 2 seem to be the best. Just can't seem to find pictures of both.

When you finally find pictures, focus solely on the legs: the K&M's are high and sprawling, the BB is almost flat to the floor and strong as a tank. You [or the trombone player at your side!] only need to trip over those darned legs once to decide which is the better stand! One other item which will not come out in a picture will be that the K&M is about an inch taller at the lowest setting; this may be a problem with some chairs and a high leadpipe. And, the BB is cheaper!

BB does not show a picture, but the legs are much lower and stronger.

Hi Chris,
I own both, here are some pics of side by side. The K&M is the chrome one.
I much prefer the Baltimore Brass stand, it beats the K&M for compactness, and I have had the
legs on the K&M slip down under the weight of a 6/4 horn. [Conn 24J]
I can play my Rudy 5/4 with the Baltimore stand post all the way down, in a normal chair.

Can anyone tell me how to order a Baltimore Brass stand? Although I love my Tubassist, having a BB stand would be useful for those occasions when my folding chair is not convenient.

One cannot seem to be able to order on-line via the Baltimore Brass website, so I sent them email 10 days ago asking if they would ship to the UK and have had no reply

The top for the BBC stand (on the left) is now a lighter model than this ultra-heavy thing from K&M.

I played a gig a couple weeks ago that just killed my back because of the height and angle of the seat; I felt like I had wrestled a bear for an hour and a half.
I ordered the Batimore Brass stand on Thursday and received it this morning. I used it at an orchestra concert tonight with my Willson 3050 . . . what a relief. It gives my back a break and takes the "chair variable" out of the playing equation.
A big thumbs up to the Balitmore Brass stand . . . very compact, solid, and inconspicuous.

Dave is the tuba player for the Baltimore symphony and a very busy teacher, so I might imagine he gets backed up with the business. The stand is worth waitng for.

Don't bother with the K&M stand. I had bought one for my Nirschl and it couldn't hold the weight of the horn. Since then I have designed my own stand and have made two now. I can let you try it out when I go up for Seatec/sub-list auditions. If you like it I can see about making another for you.

Are you saying that they changed the design for the BBC stand from that awesome huge rubbery cup rest (as is shown in your pic) to something different?

Yes. The reason is obvious--they were buying the tops from K&M and let's just say that it wasn't a sustainable solution. The new tops are lighter, with a plastic shell and dense foam on the top.

I am not that big a fan of the K&M cup design, because the rubber material does get rubbed off like a pencil eraser, though so slowly as to negate any risk of wearing out in our lifetimes. I would prefer something a bit less grippy, and also less heavy.

Dave promised me a copy of the new top once upon a time, but I never pursued it with him. He does guarantee those tops for life, as I understand it.

Have a BBC stand,very nice but does collect spit.Consider a Meinl Weston tuba harness.I have both but like the harness better!
