That's some really good work. I am slowly starting to gain some repair knowledge. I started with a couple of old trumpets and trombones that I found on ebay that mainly needed a good cleaning. Did a little re-soldering and stripped lacquer off the nasty horns and was able to make a little profit off of them. I also do a little here at school. My solders suck and normally have to re-do them a couple of times but I'm getting there. I guess little by little is the best way to learn... Thanks for the inspiration and ideas and such.

Ain't those bow guards fun, Joe?

Yeah.... I've had 'em off, straightened them out, and put them back on. But... depending on how beat-up they are, the results vary quite a bit. On student instruments, I've been known to get pretty brutal with those guards in a way that they often don't even need to be removed from the horn.... depending on how much 'air' is between the guard and the bow. Remind me next time we talk.
