Is this circular breathing?

I have never been able to pull off circular breathing, but I'm curious as to know if this is an example of it. The guy never takes his lips off the mouthpiece!

Really? You never see the all of the times he took off his mouthpiece to breathe?
You want to see circular breathing? Look up some Rafael Mendez.

The video is not synchronized with the sound when I view it. So even though there was a little bit of movement of the cheeks, it was hard to see if it was related to breathing. It did not look like it to me.
Here is an audio example, no video. Listen to what happens at about 21 seconds. You will hear a breath without interruption of the sound. I believe the soloist is Steve Sykes.

Am I the only person who thinks he's not even playing that at all?
Kinda fits with my observation of the video not matching the sound.

Can't watch the youtube....but can comment a little on circular breathing. I worked on this a while, and got to where I can do it well enough to play a passable dij. But reaching the point of expertise where you hear no break in the sound would take quite a bit more than I have invested, terms of talent or work or both. However, the basics are not all that difficult if you are willing to put some patient time into it.
I'm even, at this age, slowly learning to flutter tongue, with the same patient time being invested. Whether I'll ever be able to use it when playing remains to be seen.

I think that you are making this statement a little bit too fast. If you watch his other videos you will see that he is a great player. He also links to a website in the description where you can see that he clearly is no fraud.
But to answer the OP. No I don't think that any circular breathing took place in this video. Here is a video of Rafael Mendez preforming Moto Perpetuo using circular breathing to play without any breaks for over four minutes.

I circular-breathe and consider it a valuable tool, but that Mendez recording is beyond comprehension, and so beyond my capability as to put it in another astral plane. Clark Terry is also an excellent practitioner of the art. Once in a clinic I asked Mr. Terry how he could articulate while circular-breathing. I told him that while I was able to do it on a sustained note I wasn't able to tongue or even slur much with any precision. He looked at me like I was on acid -- so I proposed maybe there was a difference in the oral space required to do it on trumpet?
"Well, what are YOU doing it on?" sez he.
"Tuba," I said and he just shook his head - he didn't have any more to share on the subject and moved on. I've since resigned myself that doing it on a sustained note on tuba is help enough (for the Tchaik Romeo and Juliet, for instance) and it just isn't worth the time and effort going to the next level. More than that and it kind of becomes a parlor trick.

Not to comment on circular breathing, or general quality of YouTuba videos, but if one searches on the artist name - this website comes up:
http://www.stefan-kuehndorf.de.vu/ so I am supposing he is actually a skill player on the Tuba and the sounds that are on that video are his own.
Total supposition, but why not? There are a lot of very good tubists in Baden-Wurttemberg, I am guessing!

I cannot be sure that this gentleman is breathing circularly. He probably is. My main question about the video is why is his laundry hanging next to him?

WOW!! That was Great!!The demonstration and continuos Playing was wonderful that is the first time I have seen that!!I kept wanting to take a breath for the guy haha I really liked how high he was playing too and the combonation of the low and high.... I watched Rodger Bobo play the Carnival of Vienese great high and low in that too!!Thanks again!!...........................................bigbob
