Mouthpiece/leadpipe weight

Post by imperialbari »

Via web connections to a young Norwegian tubist I came by a photo of one of his section mates in his school band:
Tuba mundstykkevægt udsnit.jpg
I contacted this young player, but he only knew he bought it at a band competition and from a company supporting NMF, the Norwegian band organization. The link provided lead nowhere in this context. The Norwegian Tubaforum is down currently, so I hopefully can get information about the maker here.

Do you mean the the black (plastic ???) piece between the mouthpiece and the visible portion of the leadpipe?

It looks like it could be a BERP device, to me, but it is a bit difficult to tell from the photo.

See http://www.berp.com/about.html
The Darling Of The Thirty-Cents-Sharp Low D♭'s.

I think your interpretation of the photo is right. I knew the existence of BERP, but I don’t use that concept, so it wasn’t on top of my mind.
