Are the sousaphone covers with the letters something provided by the organizers? Anyway the looks are impressive.

yes Klaus- the organizers provide the letters- this past year was one of the worst of record for bad weather. Icy rain all day and still its been reported that over 450 players attended . Mr. Harvey Phillips was due to guest conduct > I'm told the bad weather kept him away . I wimped out , actually opted for an indoor job where it was a comfortable 70 degrees !!

Yes, provided by the organizers.

This year, there was also a high school with bell covers that spelled out their school name, or something. I thought it looked pretty tacky...

It was truly a mess this year. We couldn't walk on the ice as it became a giant puddle from the downpour. Yet, we still put forth an enthusiastic performance, despite being drenched. Mike Salzman and I ran the event and Chris Wiljhelm, past conductor of the famous Goldman Band, conducted our ensemble of over 470 players.

Unfortunatley, Harvey could not make the trip this year. (Neither did the letters for the sousaphones spelling out Merry Tubachristmas.)
