I remember there used to be a bit of talk about them, but nothing in a while. Are they not being made anymore? I like the other bass tubas in this price range (Cerveny 653, St. Pete Eb) but a piston tuba would be nice. I found a nice detailed review on old Tubenet-

As far as I know, the 4-front-valve Eb (J682) has been out of production for a while (thank you, Bob, for the link to Joe's review -- I remember him saying several years ago that he'd had one in stock, but sent it back because it hadn't sold). There was one listed on eBay.de a year or two ago. The currently-available 3-top-valve Eb is their J330. Another related (old) thread here:

Apparently there was a 3 top valver and a 4 front valver (similar to the 621-ish C and Bb models). I think there was one on the German eBay about a year or so ago but unfortunately I did not save the picture.

Weril tubas basically disappeared from the US market for a while because of distributorship difficulties.
Today, I learned that they, or some of them, are back, under the "Weingrill" name, the name of the family that founded the company about 100 years ago. Weingrill tubas, and W. Nirschl tubas are now distributed in the US by Gemstone Musical Instruments, which is also the parent company of Gemeinhardt flutes now. The models I saw at the Capitol Tuba Conference today were impressive. I hope to play-test them tomorrow.
