Hey,

I recently got a used YCB-861. In shipping my case got damaged too. I when to a Canadian dealer to get a replacement case - $1599.00 CAD for it. Not worth it. See if you can try to get it fixed. Luggage repairmen do a good job on that kind of work.

Hopefully that helps,

Ray

The areas where wheels have been broken can usually be fixed by overlaying a piece of plastic or using fiberglass & resin to restore the area. The two recessed wheels on the bottom edge of the case at the bell end are available. Some of the cases had two wheels and a 'foot' on the bell end of the case and those have been discontinued. The part number for the wheels that are recessed into the corner of the case are BX407470. Any repairman should be able to get those for you. I don't know the price... and couldn't find out until Monday.

An option might be to simply repair the area with fiberglass and purchase aftermarket wheels from: http://www.ohiotravelbag.com/" target="_blank

I don't know if it will fit but I have a pretty nice case that was donated by a YEB-321.... but... you would have to add wheels to it.

Does one *really* need wheels for a YFB-621 case? Backpack straps would be more useful!

My 621 case is almost 20 years old so I don't know if newer ones are made from the same materials. If it is still pressure formed ABS (like many other instrument cases) be sure to do a small test patch if you are trying a epoxy-fiberglass repair. Some epoxy formulas will eat right through some ABS variants, others won't stick at all. Sometimes all you can do to patch an ABS case is heat welding, but sometimes you are just S.O.L. (old Louis Armstrong tune, BTW ;-)

I don't own a YFB-621 but I'm sure that the weight of the case rivals that of the horn itself. You 'youngsters' may think that backpack straps are the greatest thing since sliced bread and pants pockets. But... I'll assure you, that at 63 years of age, I much prefer wheels. :)

My Schiller CC was dropped (hard) during shipping (thanks, FedEx!) The wheels were sheared clean off the case, despite multiple layers of packaging. Yesterday, I went to the hardware store and bought two heavy duty casters with urethane wheels. I removed the original wheel brackets, drilled holes, and secured the casters to the brackets with the screws halfway in. When I mount the brackets back in their place, I will tighten the screws all the way, further anchoring the wheels to the case. The reason the screws appear to not match is that I wanted smoother, rounder heads at the edge of the case to prevent it from getting caught on anything, but still used the heavier duty hex heads at the other end.

You mean...in 6 months?
