Hey,
I've been listening to some of Francois Thullier's stuff lately. If you don't know him check him out here:

He is a beast, just really freaky on the tuba. It seems like he has been tearing it up for years, playing all styles out there. He seemed to be doing lots of multi-phonics and Didgeridoo type effects YEARS ago. You can also hear his jazz influence on Sergio Carolino (TGB).

So why don't most tuba players out there know him? (or do they?)

Why don't we see him at things like the TUSAB convention or at ITEC? (This is not a shot at those organizers in any way, having helped put together tuba conferences on a smaller scale I know how hard it is to please everyone.)

it seems to me that the most wise and the most gifted are generally ignored. Just as one example, think of "the guitar"...probably the most popular and widely-played instrument in the world. ...but let's also face other facts: "Gifted tuba players" are going to AUTOMATICALLY be ignored.
