the gregson is a great piece, and its fairly easy for the student to input his own musical ideas into it. There are a few technical passages that will require some work, but nothing too crazy. It is fun and the student will retain interest because of its catchy melodies. Try it out.

Check out David Zerkel's site on solos for the contrabass tuba:

http://www.arches.uga.edu/~dzerkel/reso ... abass.html

This site lists solos and gives an indication about difficulty. There is input from a number of tuba professors and David has been a college tuba professor for some time and an active performer, he really knows what he is talking about.

good luck,
Mark

Any of the solos James Grant wrote for the Solstice/Equinox commissions.
You can see these on his website--www.jamesgrantmusic.com, and purchase them from TubaEuphoniumpress.com

They're all right in that level, and can be done individually or paired, grouped as desired.
