Tuba-euph conferences in the South
Are there ever any of them in Florida? I think I asked this before, but I don't remember. The last one I went to was in 1968. I enjoyed immensely, especially because I was in high school and had never seen either a 4 valve or a rotory valved tuba. I was fascinated....and I only saw MW. As an aside; the local music store was astounded to see my Yamaha 641 BBb, because they, too had never seen rotors on a tuba (2004AD - no lie).

SRTEC 2007 was held in Sarasota. It was hosted by Jay Hunsberger, of the Sarasota Orchestra and Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of South Florida. It was an excellent conference with many wonderful performances. It was my first tuba-euph conference and I enjoyed it immensely. I'm sorry you missed it!

I too, am sorry to have missed it. Sarasota is not a long drive for me and I played at USF, myself. It would be interesting to find out what the tuba-euph numbers are, there. I'll just have to get in the car and drive back to Tampa, sometime.
Thanks for the response.

Might want to check around and see if the [l=All Florida Community Band Conference]http://www.dwerden.com/talk/forum/messa ... ight_key=y[/l] will be held this year.
Not T/E specific, but they've had a pretty reasonable "background brass" turnout in the past.

Thank you for the link. It's quite a coincidence that I have performed with two of the euphs (Rick F and Mike Bayer). Stranger still, is that Mike and I went to high school together (class of 1969)!
