I need some help from people of this forum:
I played for 10 years a B&s 3100W (pt-12 six valve) and two days ago I played a 3100W JBL.
I don´t have oportunity to play a pt-15 or pt-16 the new 5 and six valves from perantucci models.
I liked JBL, but I found the pt-10 ( or 11 or 12) a more beat response on the low register. I found a too much fat unfocused sound on JBL than on pt-10 compared side by side, but medium and hight register are fantastic.

I supposed that pt15 and 16 have this the same good medium an higth register than a JBL, but I need to Know if the lower its "more articulated and manegeable" than a JBL (in my opinion too "woof").
And I´m interested in a pt-16 goldmessing if someone played... impressions are very wellcome!

I would have to ask what mouthpiece you were using for the testinfg as certain ones are not as effective as others on certain instruments. The JBL is better than the PT16 in my opinion. Having heard a VERY noted player playing them side-by-side, he was obviously more comfortable on the JBL and he sounded better. The 5 valve JBLs are a little different from the 4+2 6 valve models. I personally own the 6 valve one and wouldn't trade it for the world.

One of the big differences is the straighter leadpipe with the 5th valve moved further toward the mouthpiece receiver. I am not familiar with the PT12 but know that the JBL has a much better low register than my old (early 80's) PT10 did. I find that the JBL works great in the low register and just sings in the high register. I also find that I can play it at a whisper, or tear down the walls with it if needed.

What you are asking is extremely subjective and will be more based on how comfortable a player is on the horn he is using. What you need to do is try the instruments yourself, as you already apparently have, but have a few different mouthpieces available as it can make a difference. In the end, get the horn that likes what you do to it.
