Wow. I'd like to see the fit and finish of that thing. Has anyone who has played these Schillers really checked the work on them? If that thing is legit.........wow. Don't know how I feel 'bout that.

There is one major "feature" that appears to be missing, the asymmetric top bow. If this "proportionately awesome" as the Schiller 186 (as stated in several threads), then I imagine these will be nice horns. A CC would be sweet.

The Miraphone 1291 BBb does not have an asymmetric top bow.

I wonder how long before the quality of these products begins to have an impact on the Western tuba production market. Eventually someone will have to give...either the chinese prices will increase, western prices will fall, or maybe they'll meet in the middle. After all, look at Japanese products (especially in tech) and their increase in the market since the 1970's...especially in public perception.

All I'm saying is that if these companies come out with a Thor or PT-6 copy that is equivalent in quality and sound....then they'll have a customer out of me....and many others (their BBb 1291 copy may already win a HUGE amount of customers). At some point there will come a tipping point. Hopefully it'll be when I can even afford 2k for a new horn.

This again makes me reiterate, I will never own a Chinese made tuba. Not for me, no thanks.

I hear you about never buying a Chinese horn !! But heck , I m a Chevy guy . Car made in Canada and parts in Mexico. I guess these are American cars ? German horns from Brazil ??? I think I "ll have to get over old prejudices and just focus on how it plays . Will it last ? can I get replacement parts if something breaks ? I'd love to see a competitve reponse that knocks 20 percent off the horn I really would want .

Well.... I've owned several Chinese tubas and worked on many. I have yet to see one that even comes close to the way the parts on German tubas fit. I am very tempted to buy one of these Schillers just to do a side-by-side comparison with my Miraphone 1291

They could really be decent tubas, and I'm okay with that. I like competition, and I like the actual effort to make more than TSOs (tuba shaped objects).

I'm just not ready to be part of this great instrument experiment.

I'm waiting for Mark Jones to buy one first.

Yes. I don't want to excite the Tuba World too much. But... if the 1291 works out.... I'll probably put the piston Marzan up for sale.

I think this is probably the most interesting Chinese knock-off yet. A piston, big-bore, 5/4 contrabass? Screw the 186-clone!

All I want to see next/ever now is a front action piston bass tuba and a cimbasso!
