4/4 CC bugle looking like a serpent

I put together my next 4/4 CC bugle all spread out. I usually do this in the traditional coiled up form before soldering it together to check the overtone series, CC pitch length and timbre. I thought it made for an interesting picture. The bell and bottom bow are 1905 vintage Chicago Holton. The branches are 1987 King. Still have to take about 2" off this one to bring it up to 440hz. That should be a breeze. It's good to think about giving this great bell a chance to sing again after a very long silence. It's in amazingly fine condition.

Hopefully fewer holes than in a serpent.

Nice photo, but this wrapping isn’t ideal for all homes. Certainly not for mine.

From that angle, the bell looks enormous! :D

Sam, it's awesome that you make these old bells speak again!

Yeah, a fella is gonna get his shirt dirty blowin' that one.... Cool way to test out the tubes if you have the room.... Did you actually solder them up or just seal thing with tape? Is this going to be one of your traditional 4 piston/1 rotor configuration, Sam?

Tubas would be really free-blowing and open if they were built like this.

...and the horn would reach as far as the bassoons which would really piss them off!

It's not on the floor. We have a huge bench/table in our shop with room to spare for this.

This one's just pieced together for the picture. I seal them up with electricians' tape for the play test. It will be the usual configuration of 4/1.
