One of the signs of a great accompanist is knowing what to LEAVE OUT, especially when it comes to reductions. I know of several high quality accompanists who have their own personal "arrangements" of this piece that make themselves (and the soloist) look good. Collaboration is a beautiful thing.

Actually, this was a GOOD hijack.........I have wondered similar. I'll bet a version with string quintet, piano trio or even a woodwind quintet would provide results equal to the piano version, maybe even better. Plus, there would be a significant addition to the tuba/chamber literature.bloke wrote:I wonder if some TWO-piano reduction would sound less "frantic".
