Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Arban for tuba published based on BBb tuba back in the last century? What I mean by this is that currently the exercises, songs, and duets are transposed with the CC tuba vs. BBb in mind.

If I'm correct, is it still published anywhere in the older version?... or how can I tell by publisher or date if a used copy is the old BBb version?

I always thought the only version that was specifically writen for CC tuba was Young/Jacobs edition found at Encore Publishing.

If you want a complete Arban's method in BBb, you have to buy the trombone (Randall/Mantia) version and read it down an octave from what is written.

(You *can* play the CC version on a BBb tuba, but the progression of exercises doesn't make as much sense. For example, for exercises that are meant to be open tone, you are mashing valves, etc. But there is still a lot of good stuff in there that is not in the trombone book.)

(If you want to be a real he-man, you can get the complete trumpet method and transpose. I tried it and it gave me a headache, still have the book if anyone wants it.)

Why not simply use the tuba book? You have to go through all twelve keys anyway...
